한국 SF 문학의 시공간 및 초공간 활용 양상 연구 : 배명훈 · 김초엽 · 김보영의 소설을 중심으로
초록
본고는 한국의 SF 텍스트들이 시공간과 초공간을 소설적으로 형상화하는 양상을 분류하고, 각각의 양상에 따라서 다른 기능과 효과를 가지는 의미에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다. 2000년대 이후 한국 SF 소설 텍스트들은 세계의 총체성이나 재현의 논리에서 벗어나 소설의 시공간을 갱신하거나 변주한다. 따라서 SF라는 특정 장르가 가지고 있는 시공간에 대한 특수한 표현형식과 그 효과에 대하여 구체적으로 살펴볼 필요가 있다.
본고는 SF 장르의 특징인 인지적 소외를 포괄하여 우주적 시공간과 초공간을 활용하는 상이한 시도들에 주목한다. 우선 알레고리적 시공간을 활용하는 배명훈의 『첫숨』, 스키마적 시각성을 강조하는 김초엽의 소설 『우리가 빛의 속도로 갈 수 없다면』, 사유적인 초공간의 특징을 보여주는 김보영의 『저 이승의 선지자』를 각각 비교 분석한다. 이들은 각기 다른 시공간 제시의 장단점을 가지며, 오늘날 재현을 둘러싼 난관을 극복하기에도 유리하다. 특히 이러한 텍스트들의 시공간 활용이 보여주듯 SF 장르의 핵심은 미래세계를 예상하는 과학이론이 아니라, 낯선 시공간과 인지적 소외를 활용하여 인간의 인지적 한계를 재인식하는 것이다. SF의 초공간성 역시 지나치게 초월적인 4차원만을 다루는 것이 아니라, 인간의 인지적인 한계를 대변하는 3차원 시공간을 매개해야 한다.
Abstract
The text of this book will categorize aspects of time and space in Korean SF text and consider the meaning of different functions and effects depending on those aspects. Since the 2000s, Korean SF novel texts have moved away from perceptions of grossness and updated or altered the time and space of the novel. Therefore, it is necessary to take a detailed look at the special form of expression and its effects on the space and time that a particular genre of SF has.
The main focus is on different attempts to utilize space-time and super-space by encompassing cognitive alienation, a characteristic of the SF genre. First of all, they compare Bae Myung-whun's first breath, Kim Cho-yup's If We Can’t Go at the Speed of Light, which emphasizes schema-visuality, and Kim Bo-young's The Prophet of the Mundanity which shows the characteristics of private super-space. They have the advantages and disadvantages of presenting different time and space, and are also advantageous in overcoming the difficulties surrounding the reenactment. In particular, as the use of space-time and space-time of these texts shows, the key to the SF genre is not the scientific theory of predicting the future world, but the re-recognition of human cognitive limitations by utilizing unfamiliar space-time and cognitive alienation. The super-space nature of SF also has no choice but to actively combine it with a three-dimensional space and time that represents human cognitive limitations, rather than an overly transcendent four-dimensional one.
