표상 불가능한 타자의 현전과 비표상적 글쓰기의 가능성 : 한강의 『소년이 온다』를 중심으로

이 글은 한강의 『소년이 온다』에서 비표상적 글쓰기를 향한 작가의 지향과 그 자의식에 주목한다. 이런 지향은 언어의 표상 작용이 지닌 한계와 ‘말하는 주체’의 폭력성에 대한 민감한 자각에서 비롯되며, 이 소설의 ‘증언불가능성’ 문제와도 관련된다. 『소년이 온다』에서 한강은 폭력의 잔혹함을 재현하거나 타인의 고통을 증언하는 대신에, 그 고통을 함께 느끼기를 선택한다. 표상하는 주체가 되기보다 글쓰기 속에서 ‘바깥’으로 내몰리고 자신을 타자로 경험하는 한강의 글쓰기는 독서 과정에서 강한 정동을 유발하고, ‘말해진 것’의 의미를 넘어서는 급진적 소통을 가능케 한다. 그 속에서 독자는 동호의 혼, 또는 수많은 사람들의 넋이 스며든 ‘한 몸’으로 나타나는 표상 불가능한 타자의 현전과 마주치고, 유한성과 탈존을 공유하는 인간 ‘공동의 몸’과 순간적으로 접촉한다. 또한 인물과 독자와 작가의 탈존을 서로에게 기울어진 ‘외존’으로 변형하는 ‘목소리’의 부름에 응답하게 된다. 의식 너머의 정념으로 이어진 이 관계는 우리 각자가 일부를 이루는 ‘공동-내-존재’ 안에서 ‘함께 있음’ 그 자체를 나누는 윤리적 공동체를 향하고 있다. 이 글에서는 『소년이 온다』에서 이 같은 글쓰기-독서의 과정과 그것을 자기반영적으로 무대화하는 한강의 자의식을 살펴본다. 이를 통해 비표상적 글쓰기의 가능성과 그 윤리적 함의에 대해 생각해본다.

This essay pays attention to Han, Gang's self-conscious pursuit of the nonrepresentational writing in A Boy is coming. That arises in sensitivity of the limits of language and the violence of speaking subjects, which relates to ‘impossibility of testimony’. A Boy is coming shows us the nonrepresentational writing about the experiences of ‘the outside’ caused by inexplicable deaths and pains. This essay aims to analyse detailed features and significance of the nonrepresentational writing in this novel. It emerges as the event encountering ‘presence of the other’ which is impossible to represent, through the flow of affect in reading process. This experiences lead the readers to our ‘common body’ that sharing weakness and finitude in all human. The nonrepresentational writing appears in ‘the partage of voice’ which exceeds the speech of a particular narrator or even writer. That voice opens up the possibility of invisible community between a writer and readers. The nonrepresentational writing is the literary practice of the ethical community sharing ‘being-with’ itself and forming part of the human's common body.
