강신재 1950년대 단편의 신뢰할 수 없는 서술 연구
초록
이 글은 전쟁 중 공산주의(자)와 관계 맺는 여성-부역자 인물이 등장하는 강신재 1950년대 단편소설을 내러티브 장치의 신뢰성이라는 분석 틀로 조망함으로써 강신재 문학과 전후 반공주의 지배담론의 관계를 규명하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 동일한 유형의 인물이 등장하는 이종 제시 소설에 대한 분석을 통해 서술 수준에 따라 서술의 신뢰 양상이 달라지는 양상을 살펴본다. 이어서 네 편의 동종 제시 소설을 대상으로 보고, 평가, 해석의 차원에서 이루어지는 신뢰할 수 없는 서술의 양상을 분석하고, 그 미학적 효과를 설명한다. 이러한 분석을 통해 강신재 1950년대 단편의 신뢰할 수 없는 서술은 성규범의 위반이 적치하의 부역과 연동되어 윤리적 타락으로 귀결되는 매커니즘을 의문시하는 효과를 발생시키고 있음을 제시하였다. 더불어 강신재의 50년대 문학이 신뢰할 수 없는 서술이라는 미학적 장치를 통해 지배담론과 가부장제의 공모에 대한 문학적 대응을 수행하고 있음을 규명하였다.
Abstract
This paper examines Kang Shin-jae’s short stories from the 1950s, which feature female characters involved with communism or communists, through the analytical lens of narrative reliability. By doing so, it aims to illuminate how her fiction responds to the postwar hegemonic discourse of anti-communism and its collusion with patriarchy. The study first analyzes heterodiegetic narratives featuring similar character types to explore how different levels of narration produce varying degrees of reliability. It then turns to four homodiegetic narratives to investigate how unreliability emerges at the levels of reporting, evaluation, and interpretation, and discusses the aesthetic effects of unreliable narration in each case. Through this analysis, the study demonstrates that Kang’s use of unreliable narration functions to question the ideological mechanism that links violations of sexual norms with collaboration during the occupation and, ultimately, with moral degeneration. The findings reveal that Kang Shin-jae’s 1950s literature mounts a literary intervention against the collusion between dominant discourse and patriarchy by employing the aesthetic strategy of unreliable narration.
