박경리 초기 장편에 나타난 ‘나쁜 피’의 표상과 전후 젠더화된 스펙터클 : 『애가』, 『표류도』, 『성녀와 마녀』 읽기

1950년대는 근대화와 보수화를 함께 겪으며 여성에게 자유의 기회를 제공하는 한편, 그것이 얼마나 제한적으로 작동하는지 자각하게 하는 시대이기도 했다. 박경리 초기소설이 전쟁의 상흔과 전후 이행기 여성의 삶을 주로 형상화한다면, ‘피’는 이를 서사적으로 구현하는 중요한 상징 장치라 할 수 있다. ‘나쁜 피’는 전후 젠더와 관련한 사회구조 및 규범과의 관계에서, 전쟁으로 인해 파괴된 가족 질서의 회복을 위해 여성을 통치하려는 국가의 통치술과 남성 중심의 가부장제 시선을 압축적으로 보여준다. 박경리 초기 장편에서 연애가 비극으로 치닫고 광기와 신경증이 성별화되는 것 또한 이와 관련이 깊다. ‘나쁜 피’의 상징은 개인적 운명이나 혈통의 오염이 아닌 전후의 사회적 갈등과 차별을 반영하는 동시에, 도덕적 의미에서 선악의 기준의 애매성과 불안정성을 드러낸다.

보다 구체적으로 박경리 소설의 양공주, 전쟁미망인과 낙태 여성, 마녀는 선악의 경계를 넘는 마성적 면모뿐 아니라, 대항시선과 대항폭력을 통해 가부장제의 젠더 비대칭성을 해체하려는 태도를 보인다. 이들은 ‘불량 여성’을 마녀로 적시하는 ‘사법관’ 앞에서 사회적 규범에 도전하고, 일종의 볼거리로서 여성에게 부과된 스펙터클에 맞서 이를 역으로 이용하기도 한다. 이 글은 『애가』, 『표류도』, 『성녀와 마녀』에 나타난 ‘나쁜 피’의 표상과 재판 서사를 통해 박경리 초기 작품세계의 특징을 재조명하고자 한다.

The 1950s was also a time when women went through modernization and conservativeization and provided opportunities for freedom to women, while realizing how limited it worked. If Park Kyung-ri's early novels mainly embody the scars of war and the lives of women in the post-war transition period, “blood” is an important symbolic device that embodies this narrative. “bad blood” comprehensively shows the state's governance and male-centered patriarchy to rule women for the restoration of the family order damaged by the war in relation to the social structure and norms. In Park Kyung-ri's early feature, it is also deeply related that love leads to tragedy and madness and neuroticism become gendered. The symbol of “bad blood” reflects the social conflict and discrimination after the war, not the contamination of personal fate or lineage, while revealing the ambiguity and instability of the essential standards of good and evil.

This thesis aims to reexamine the characteristics of the early world of Park Kyung-ri through the representation of “bad blood” and the trial narrative in 『Aega』, 『Pyoryu-Do』, and 『Saint and Witch』.
