1970년대 한국 추리서사에 기입된 여성 스파이 재현 : 『기생간첩 김소산』을 중심으로

추리서사는 일반적으로 탐정, 범인, 희생자 등의 인물 유형이 등장하고, 불가사의한 범죄의 발생과 그 해결과정을 중심 플롯으로 삼는 이야기를 일컫는다. 본 논문은 여성 스파이가 등장하는 1970년대 추리서사가 위에 제시한 삼분화된 인물 유형의 도식을 부분적으로 와해시키는 전략을 갖고 있다는 전제 하에 『특별수사본부』(1972) 시리즈 중 『기생간첩 김소산』을 분석의 주된 텍스트로 삼아 그 주제 의식을 밝히고자 했다. 위 소설은 범인/희생자의 인물 유형이 통합된 형태로 등장하고, 이 인물에게 감정적 동일시를 유발하게끔 서사가 진행된다. 범인을 묘사할 때 선악의 구도 속에서 악인으로 묘사하는 것이 아니라 불가항력적 상황과 그 범죄의 동기를 설득력 있게 제시한다. 탐정은 범인/희생자의 상황을 이해하고 있고 동정하며 그들을 위기에 처하게 하는 배후 세력을 추적한다.
범인/희생자는 위 소설에서 ‘여성 스파이’이다. 이 인물은 신생 대한민국의 건국이념 및 이를 전복하려는 공산정권 등의 상징화된 질서에 통합되지 않는 존재로서 반공소설의 문법을 비트는 사건과 갈등을 추동시킨다. 이 힘의 원천은 여성 스파이의 ‘육체’에서 비롯되기에 본고는 특히 여기에 집중했다. 그녀가 발생시키는 행동(사건)의 수행적 의미는 이 소설의 다채로운 주제의식을 형성하게 만드는 요소이기에 주목을 요한다. 지금까지 1970년대 스파이 추리서사는 냉전의 산물로서 독해되어 왔지만 본고는 그 감각을 넘어서는 논리가 텍스트 안에 내장되어 있음을 주장하고자 한다.
Abstract
Mystery-narratives generally feature character types such as detectives, criminals, and victims. It refers to a story that uses the occurrence of a mysterious crime and the process of solving it as a central plot. This paper presupposes that the mystery story of the 1970s, when female spies appeared, has a strategy to partially break down the diagram of the divided character type presented above. Among the series of the 『Special Investigation Headquarters』(1972), 『A gisaeng spy, Kim So-san』 was the main text of the analysis to reveal the subjective consciousness. In this novel, the character type of the criminal/victim appears in an integrated form, and the narrative proceeds to induce emotional identification with this character. When describing a criminal, it does not portray him as a villain in the composition of good and evil, but convincingly presents force majeure and the motive of the crime. The detective understands and sympathizes with the criminal/victim's situation and tracks down the forces behind it that put them in crisis.
The criminal/victim is a 'female spy' in this novel. This character is not integrated into the symbolic order of the founding ideology of the new Republic of Korea and the communist regime trying to overthrow it, driving events and conflicts that do not conform to the grammar of anti-communist novels. The source of this power comes from the 'body' of female spies, so this paper focused particularly on this. The performative meaning of the action (event) she generates is a factor that forms the colorful subject consciousness of this novel, so it requires attention. So far, Spy-narratives of the 1970s have been read as a product of the Cold War. This paper attempts to argue that logic beyond that sense is embedded in this novel.
