최정희의 해방기 소설에 나타난 ‘독립/해방’의 의미

이 글은 최정희의 해방기 소설에 나타난 독립/해방의 의미가 민족 광복에 국한된 것이 아닌 광복 주체의 서로 다른 기대와 사상 경사의 표지로 작용하는 점을 살펴보고자 했다. 독립/해방의 나란한 배치는 최정희의 표현에 따른 것으로, 두 개념이 양산하는 담론은 서로 다르지만, 해방기를 일제식민지기와의 연장선에서 파악할 때 광복 주체들이 겪는 일상의 고초를 구조적 문제로 파악할 수 있다. 최정희의 독립/해방에 대한 관심은 학창 시절의 영향 관계에서 비롯하여 등단 초기부터 꾸준히 초점화되었던 것으로 단순한 포즈라고 말할 수 없다. 해방기 소설은 지배 권력과 이에 맞서는 주체의 대립적 구도라기보다 지배 권력에 의해 해방기에 걸었던 기대가 좌절되는 주체들을 재현하면서 일말의 기대에 대한 가능성을 해방공간이 갖는 가능성으로서의 상징 속에 배치하고 있는 것과 같다. 이는 사상적 경사를 넘어 구체적 삶 한가운데에 있는 독립/해방의 의미를 찾고 있다고 평가할 수 있다.

This article attempted to examine the fact that the meaning of independence/liberation in Choi Jung-hee's liberation period novel is not limited to national liberation, but acts as a cover for the different expectations and ideological inclinations of the liberation subject. The parallel arrangement of independence/liberation is based on Choi Jung-hee's expression, and although the discourse produced by the two concepts is different, the daily struggles experienced by the liberation subjects can be identified as structural problems when grasping the liberation period as an extension of the Japanese colonial period. Choi Jung-hee's interest in independence/liberation has been steadily focused since the beginning of her debut, including the influence of her school days, and it cannot be said to be a simple pose. The novel of the liberation period is like placing the possibility of a certain expectation in the symbol of the liberation space, recreating the subjects whose expectations were put on the liberation period by the dominant power rather than the confrontational structure of the dominant power and the subject against it. This can be evaluated as looking for the meaning of independence/liberation in the middle of a concrete life beyond the ideological slope.
