오정희 ｢관계｣의 여성 주체

여성성의 외피를 벗겨 심도 있게 그 본질을 담아내는 오정희의 작품 세계는, 급진적인 페미니즘부터 전통적인 모성관까지, 작품의 여성성에 대한 해석에 있어 다양한 의견을 낳았다. 그렇기에 본 연구는 라캉의 성차를 근거로 나름의 기준을 세워 작품 속에서 여성성을 탐색하고, 나아가 여성적 주체의 가능성과 한계 지점을 알아봄을 목표로 한다.

｢관계｣를 통해 생물학적 남성이면서도 비-전체로서 여성 주체로 존재하는 인물의 모순을 읽는다. 이 인물은 남근 기표를 벗어날 수 있는 가능성을 가짐에도 불구하고, 결국에는 종속되고 마는 모습에서 여성 주체의 한계적 모습을 본다. 더불어 전체-예외로만 이루어진 남근 기표 세계에 포섭되고자 하는 비-전체 인물들의 환상에 대한 이야기로도 해석해본다.

오정희의 세계는 전체와 예외로 이루어진 남근 상징이 지배하는 세계이다. 이 질서 안에서 생물학적 성차를 넘어선 여성 주체들은 끊임없이 주체에 대해 고민해야 하는 상황에 내몰린다. 가부장적 지배 질서의 환상에 벗어나지 못하는 여성 주체는 상징계를 벗어날 수 없는 한계의 지점에 머무르고 만다. 그러나 머무르거나 벗어나야 하는 것, 모두 남근 기표로 이루어진 세계가 비-전체를 인정해주지 않는 곳이라는 사실이 선행함을 언급한다.

This paper establishes a standard based on Lacan's sexual difference. Exploring femininity in Oh Jung-hee’s short story. Furthermore, it aims to investigate the possibilities and limitations of the female subject. In Relation, we read the contradiction of a person who is a biological male but also exists as a female subject as a ‘not-whole’. This is based on the theory of sexual difference that goes beyond biological sex differences. This character had the potential to escape the phallic signifier. Nevertheless, it appears to be subordinated to the phallic signifier. Through this, we see the limits of the female subject. In addition, it is interpreted as a story about the fantasy of not-whole characters.
