‘헤테로토피아’적 지성, 90년대 시적 주체의 한 갈래(1) : 장정일을 중심으로
초록
본고는 90년대 진정성 개념을 무규정성이란 관점 하에서 검토하고, 이어서 ‘진정성을 파괴하는 진정성’ 이면에 놓인 장정일의 지성적 사유에 대해 논의했다. 장정일 시의 핵심은 자본주의와 도시화에 대한 비판이란 표면이 아닌 마조히즘적 텍스트 구성방식에 있다. 이 마조히즘적 시적 화자의 이면이 텍스트밖 시적 주체의 자의식과 암묵적으로 매개되어 있다는 장정일 시의 특징적 양상은 지금까지 언급된 바가 많지 않다.
그러나 이 징후적이고 증상적인 발화(에크리튀르)는 장정일의 텍스트의 근본적 구성원리라 할 수 있다. 텍스트를 제작한다는 원칙에서 벗어나지 않으면서도, 자신의 근본적 욕망을 징후와 잉여로서만 드러내려 했던 장정일의 철저한 예술가적 자의식은 90년대에 산출된 개인성과 내면성의 한 정점으로 판단된다. 텍스트상 흔적과 잉여로만 드러나는 시적 주체의 (무)의식적 욕망은 사실상 지성적 문학에 대한 그의 근본적 추구와 관계되어 있다는 점에서 유의미하다.
장정일에게 ‘불타는 책’과 ‘죽음’의 알레고리적 이미지들은 결과적으로 시적 주체가 ‘책’(혹은 지성)을 통해 어떻게 자신만의 글쓰기를 지속했는지, 그리고 90년대의 혼란스러운 문단 상황하에서 오만하도록 자신의 문학적 방법들을 고수할 수 있었는지를 보여준다. 이 ‘언어’적 양상과 특이성을 통해 90년대 기형도와 더불어 장정일을 오늘날 현재 문단의 기원으로 인식할 수 있을 것이다. 본고를 포함한 본 연구의 목표점은 추후 이어질 유하에 대한 연구와 함께 90년대 시문단이 형성한 진정성의 다층적 면모를 구체적으로 검토하려는 것에 있다.
Abstract
This study has a big point of discussion about the authenticity and indefinableness of 90s literature. Under this point of view, this paper discussed Jang Jung-il's intelligence behind ‘sincerity that destroys sincerity’. The core of Jang Jung-il's poem is the masochistic text composition method. Behind this masochistic poetic narrator, the self-consciousness of the poetic subject is implicitly mediated.
This symptomatic and symptomatic utterance(écriture) is an important constituent principle in Jang Jung-il's poem. Jang Jung-il's thorough artistic self-consciousness, which tried to reveal his fundamental desires only as signs and surpluses without departing from the principle of producing text, is considered to be the culmination of individuality and internality produced by the 1990s. The desire of the poetic subject, which is revealed only by traces and surpluses in the text, actually corresponds to his efforts in intellectual literature.
For Jang Jung-il, the allegorical images of ‘Burning Book’ and ‘death’ show how the poetic subject created his poem through intelligence as a result. Jang Jung-il maintained his literary style and ‘arrogant’ despite the chaos of the 1990s. Jang Jung-il's ‘language’ aspect and peculiarity are the origins of contemporary Korean poetry. The purpose of this study is to examine the multi-layered aspects of authenticity in the 1990s along with the research on Yu Ha.
