나의 가장 사적인 모빌리티(Mobility) : 김봉곤 단편소설에 나타난 퀴어 연애의 동선과 공간을 중심으로

이 연구의 목적은 김봉곤의 단편소설을 분석함으로써, 공공 공간과 사적 장소 사이를 떠도는 퀴어 연애의 이동성(mobility)을 조명하는 것이다. 성적 반체제자와 도시의 공공 공간 간의 관계가 연구 대상으로 인지되기 시작한 것은 최근의 일이다. 도시 거주자들이 중심에서 배제되지 않는 한편, “능동적·집합적으로 정치에 참여하며 (도시를) 스스로 규정해나갈 것”을 선언했던 르페브르의 도시 권리 담론에도 불구하고, 공공 공간의 주체들은 무성적 존재로 포착되었을 뿐 실제 집단 속에 존재하는 “성애화된 몸들(sexualized bodies)”에 대한 주목은 드물었다. 이로 인해 가부장적 이성애정상가족규범에 기반을 둔 실세계의 공간 규율은 문제로 부각되지 못했으며, 비규범적 섹슈얼리티를 지닌 신체들은 공적 논의에서 주변화되었다. 도시 공간의 성적 타자들(sexual others)은 “공론 영역에 들어가거나 이를 설립할 능력을 박탈”당한 채 사적 장소성에 속박되었던 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 르페브르나 <도시에 대한 권리 세계헌장>(2004)은 비규범적 섹슈얼리티를 지닌 사람들이 도시 공간에서 처할 수 있는 복합적 억압을 넘어, “차이와 만남”을 토대로 도시를 전유하거나 이에 참여할 권리를 지닌다는 점을 강조한다. 그렇다면 비가시적인 사(私)의 영역을 가로질러 실세계의 공간 정치에 참여하는 한편, 공공 공간의 성격을 스스로 규정하고자 했던 성적 반체제자들의 실천은 당대 문학작품 속에서 어떻게 표상되는가?

이 글에서는 김봉곤의 ｢디스코 멜랑콜리아｣(2016)를 중심으로 ｢컬리지 포크｣(2017), ｢러브 라이프｣(2019) 등의 단편소설들을 분석함으로써, 작품에 나타난 퀴어 연애의 동선(動線)과 공간을 추적했다. 이를 통해 사적 장소성을 넘어 공공 공간을 점유함으로써, 개방된 정체성의 퍼레이드를 수행하고자 했던 성적 반체제자의 궤적을 고찰했다. 이러한 시도는 퀴어 문학 텍스트가 그간 ‘윤리적 거리두기’를 경유함으로써 ‘안전한’ 내면적 의의를 획득했던 것과 달리, 안전지대 ‘너머’를 향한 물리적 확장을 통해 사랑을 확보하기 위한 실세계의 자리를 창출하는 과정을 되짚었다는 측면에서 의의를 지닌다. 이처럼 사적 장소의 자기동일성을 넘어 공론 영역으로 나아가는 퀴어 연애의 양상을 살펴보는 것은, 1인칭 자기 서술에 집중되었던 최근 퀴어 문학의 경향과 관련하여 “차이로부터 검증되고, 실행되고, 체험된” 외부 세계로의 진출을 제안한다는 측면에서도 주목할 필요가 있다.

This study is to examine the mobility of a queer relationship that is spreading between the public space and private place by analyzing short stories of Kim Bong-gon. The relationship between sexual dissidents and the public space of cities has only recently been recognized as a study subject. Despite the urban right discourse of Lefebvre who declared that city dwellers would not be excluded from the center and "would stipulate (cities) on their own while actively and collectively participating in politics", subjects in public spaces were just captured as asexual existences and there were less attention paid to "sexualized bodies" that exist in actual groups. With this reason, spatial regularity of the real world that is based on patriarchal heterosexual and normal family norms was not highlighted as a problem and the bodies with antinormative sexualities were marginated in the public discussions. Sexual others in the urban space were restrained by private sense of place while "being deprived of the ability to enter the public discourse or to establish this". Nevertheless, <the world charter of the right to the city> (2004) by Lefebvre emphasizes the fact that people with antinormative sexualities have the right to possess the city or to participate in it based on "difference and encounter" beyond complex oppression that can face in the urban spaces. Then, how the practices of sexual dissidents who tried to stipulate the characteristics of the public space on their own while participating in spatial politics of the real world across the non-visible private realm were presented in the literatures of the time?

In this paper, we try to movement path and space of a queer relationship that appeared in the work by setting Disco Melancholia(2016), College Folk(2017), Love Life(2019) short stories of Kim Bong-gon as main subjects of the study. Through this, we will examine tracks of sexual dissidents who tried to conduct parade for open identity by occupying the public spaces beyond the private sense of place. This attempt is meaningful in that it looks back the process of creating spaces of the real world to secure love as truth through physical expansion toward ‘over’ safety zone unlike literature texts which just obtained ‘safe’ inner significance so far by passing through ‘ethical distancing’.
