소설 독자를 위한 ‘여로형 소설’의 이론적 탐색
초록
이 논문은 소설 독서 욕구를 지니고 있으나 실천에 어려움을 보이는 독자들에게 유용한 읽기 방법을 모색하는 데 목표를 두고 있다. 필자의 경험적 판단에서 독자의 소설 읽기 활동이 효율적이고 주체적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 인식적 기능이 토대가 되는 방법적 틀이 필요한데, 그 한 사례로 여로형 소설을 통한 소설 읽기 전략의 터득이라는 방안을 들 수 있다.
여로형 소설에서 여로 구조는 독자의 경험이 뒷받침되는 비율이 매우 높으며 인식적인 기능이 자연스럽게 수반되고 자신의 삶으로의 전이도 수월하게 이뤄질 수 있다는 점에서 유용하다.
그러나 관련된 논의들을 진행하는 과정에서 아직 미정형화되고 체계가 약한 여로형 소설에 대한 이론적 접근의 필요성이 요청되었기에 이 논의를 시작하게 되었다. 구체적으로는 여로의 유형에 앞서 발생론적 성격을 중심으로 전사(前史)를 살핀 연후 조건들을 추출하여 유형화하는 기준으로 삼았다. 그 결과 ‘목적 달성 여부’, ‘복귀 여부’를 두 축으로 삼게 되었으며 논리적으로 도출되는 네 가지 결합 양상을 유형으로 설정하게 되었다.
이후 논의에서 소설 독서를 위한 전략적 방법으로서의 여로형 소설에 대한 이론적 정교화와 체계화가 더욱 진전되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This thesis aims to find a useful reading method for readers who have a desire to read novels but seem to be difficult to practice. From my empirical judgment, in order to enable readers' novel reading activities to be carried out efficiently and subjectively, a methodical framework based on cognitive function is required. As an example, the method of learning novel reading strategies through a journey-type novel.
In a journey-type novel, the journey structure is useful in that the reader's experience is supported at a very high rate, the cognitive function naturally accompanies it, and the transfer to one's own life can be easily accomplished.
However, in the process of proceeding with related discussions, this discussion was started because the need for a theoretical approach to the journey-type novel, which is still unstructured and weak in system, was requested. Specifically, prior to the type of journey, it was used as a criterion for categorizing and extracting the conditions after the warrior was examined, focusing on the developmental personality. As a result, the two axes were “whether the purpose was achieved” and “whether to return”, and four logically derived forms of combination were set as the types.
In later discussions, I hope that the theoretical elaboration and systematization of the journey-type novel as a strategic method for reading novels will progress further.
