≪남도사람≫ 연작 연구
초록
본 논문은 연작 ≪남도사람≫에서 반복적으로 제시된 모티프와 주제적단위가 어떠한 서사적 다의성을 보여주는지를 살펴봄으로써 이청준 소설이 갖는 특질을 밝히는데 목적을 둔다. 2장의 (1)과 (2)에서는 ‘소리’ 모티프가 갖는 서사적 다의성에 관해 논의하고자 한다. 내용적 측면에서 살펴본 ‘소리’ 모티프가 오누이 욕망에 어떠한 영향을 끼치며 연쇄 작용을 일으켜 새로운 의미로 변모되어 가는지에 대해 중점적으로 살펴볼 예정이다. ‘소리’ 모티프는 단지 소재 차원에서 머물러 있지 않고 작품 전반을 구성하고 있음을 염두에 두면 작가가 이 모티프를 선택한 이유를 알 수 있을 것이다. (3)에서는 형식적 측면에서 주제적 단위인 서사구조가 갖는 서사적 다의성에 관해 분석하려 한다. 특히 <선학동 나그네>에서 보여준 소설적 효과가 무엇인가를 중점적으로 검토하고자 한다. ‘오라비 존재 알림’이란 주제적 단위의 특징은 연작의 전체적인 전개 과정과 관련해 주제적 측면과 긴밀하게 연관되어 있음에 주목할 필요가 있다. 이러한 내용적 측면과 형식적 측면은 유기적 관계를 이루며 다양한 의미를 갖고 있는 것이 특징이라 하겠다. 분석 대상 작품으로는 ≪남도사람≫ 연작(<서편제>, <소리의 빛>, <선학동 나그네>, <새와 나무>, <다시 태어나는 말> 총 5편) 가운데 <서편제>(1976), <소리의 빛>(1977), <선학동 나그네>(1979) 3편을 텍스트로 삼았다. 작가는 연작 ≪남도사람≫에 암시된 의미를 숨겨두어 독자들의 역할을 촉구하고 있다. 문학작품의 의미는 작품과 독자의 상호작용에 의하여 만들어진 산물이라는 점을 감안할 때, 텍스트에 나타난 소설 구성 요소의 반복은 숨겨진 의미의 힌트(hint)로 작용될 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to reveal the characteristics of Lee Chung jun's novels by examining how the motifs and thematic units repeatedly presented in the series “Namdo People” show the narrative versatility. In Chapter 2 (1) and (2), we will discuss the various narrative meanings of the ‘sound’ motif. We will focus on how the ‘sound’ motifs from the content side will affect the desire of sister and turn into a new meaning due to the chain action. At (3), we try to analyze the narrative versatility of the narrative structure, which is the thematic unit in terms of form. Especially, It will focus on what is the novel effect shown in <Sun-hak Dong Wayfarer>. It should be noted that the characteristic feature of the theme of ‘Notice of Brother Existence’ is closely related to the subject matter in relation to the overall development process of the series. These contents and formal aspects are organic and have various meanings. In the analysis work, <Seopyonjae>(1976), <Light of sound>(1977), <Sun-hak Dong Wayfarer>(1979) 3 edited text. The writer hides the meaning implied by the serial “Namdo people” and encourages the role of the reader. Considering that the meaning of literary works is the product created by the interaction between the work and the reader, the repetition of the novel component shown in the text acts as a hint of hidden meaning I will.
