단 한 권의 책 : 윤후명 소설의 존재론

이 글은 윤후명 소설 전체를 아우르는 기본 프레임과 작동 원리를 규명한다. 윤후명 소설의 일인칭은 삼인칭/리얼리즘의 허구를 거부하고 진정성의 모럴을 실천하는 그 나름의 고유한 방법적 원칙이었다. 그의 소설은 그렇게 작가 자신의 실존적 방황의 동기와 구조를 자기반영적으로 그대로 반복하는 자기 삶의 거울 텍스트다. 소설은 윤후명의 삶을 텍스트로 펼쳐놓고 있었고, 윤후명은 소설 속에서 텍스트로서의 자기 삶을 반추했다. 즉 나=소설이다. 그런 윤후명의 소설을 이끌어가는 동력은 ‘외로움’이며 그것은 향유로서의 증상이다. 이 향유로서의 증상, 그것이 바로 윤후명에게는 문학 자체다. 윤후명 소설의 서사는 이 외로움과 상실을 앓으면서 불가능한 초월의 가능성을 찾아가는 고고학적 여행이다. 이 과정에서 나타나는 환각의 에피파니는 윤후명의 소설에서 ‘시적인 것’의 핵심이다. 그에게 에피파니는 비속한 것 너머에 있는 영원하고 불가능한 어떤 것을 불러들이는 슬픈 환각이었다. 이것은 평생을 ‘그리움’을 앓으며 비속한 현실의 뒤에서 우리를 영원성으로 인도하는 빛을 보려고 노력했던 고독한 작가의 자의식적 증상이었다.

This study examines the foundational framework and operational principles encompassing the entire fictional world of Yun Humyong. The first-person narrative in Yun’s fiction serves as his unique methodological principle to reject the fictionality of third-person realism and to practice the morale of authenticity. As such, his novels function as a mirror-text of his own life, self-reflexively repeating the motives and structures of the author’s existential wandering. The novel unfolds Yoon Humyong’s life into a text, within which he ruminates upon his own life as a text; in other words, the 'I' is identical to the novel. The driving force animating Yun’s narrative is "loneliness" which operates as a symptom as jouissance. This symptom as jouissance is literature itself for Yun. The narrative of Yun’s novels is an archaeological journey seeking the possibility of an impossible transcendence while suffering from this loneliness and loss. Within this process, the hallucinatory epiphany stands at the core of "the poetic" in Yun's fiction. For him, epiphany was a sad hallucination that summons something eternal and impossible beyond the vulgar. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that this was the self-conscious symptom of a solitary writer who, throughout his life, suffered from "yearning" and strived to perceive the light that guides us toward eternity from behind a secular reality.
