박순녀 소설의 이방인의식과 탈주 : 월남여성지식인 작가의 소설 속 거주의 표상

본고는 월남여성작가 박순녀의 소설적 특이성을 지속적으로 현실이 아닌 다른 장소에 대한 지향성을 간직한 이방인의식에 있다고 보고 그 의미를 분석하고자 한다. 이방인이란 잠재적 방랑자로서 고향과 타향 모두에서 체제로부터의 소외를 경험하는 동시에 주변인의 특성으로 인해 현실에 대한 자유로운 비판을 수행하는 존재이다. <아이 러브 유>나 <외인촌 입구>, <어떤 파리> 등 박순녀 소설 속 학업을 위해 고향을 떠나온 (월남)여성주인공들은 파시즘과 가부장제 등 현실 체제와 불화하는 가운데 매춘부나 간첩이란 혐오발언의 낙인이 찍힌 존재로서 소외를 경험하는 동시에 이방인으로서 자유와 사랑이 있는 다른 곳을 지향한다. 이들이 지향하는 장소는 <대한민국의 거지> 속 미국이나 <어떤 파리> 속 파리 같이 자유와 사랑이 구현된 유토피아로서 이러한 공간은 현실에 실재하지 않는다는 점에서 <만세교>에서 아름답게 추억하는, 사라져버린 유년의 고향과 같은 노스텔지어의 대상이다. 박순녀는 이처럼 고향을 이상적이지만 실재하지 않는 ‘없는 장소’로 환기하는 동시에 <귀향연습>이나 <잘못 온 청년>에서 보듯 사라져버린 유년의 고향에 대한 기억과 그리움을 공유하는 월남 동향인 집단의 만남이라는 ‘다른 장소’의 가능성으로 서사화한다. 이방인으로서 현실체제와 불화하는 월남 동향인의 만남이란 박순녀 소설에서 사라져버린 유년의 고향, ‘없는 장소’의 기억과 지향성을 공유함으로써 현실의 규율이나 윤리를 넘어선 ‘다른 장소’의 일시적 충만함을 형성하는 것이다.

This study aims to review the peculiarity of Park, Sun-nyeo’s novels from the sense of a stranger which shows an intention not here but other place. As a latent wanderer, a stranger feels alienated from the (inner) system and freely criticizes to a present society because of his location as a marginal man in both his hometown and a foreign land. The heroine in <I love you>, <The gate of foreigner’s town>, <Some Paris> etc. who had leave the hometown, north of the 38^th parallel for education experiences in discord with the present system like Fascism and patriarchy etc. and she feels alienated as a branded person with hate speech. But at the same time as a stranger she intends to other place in which freedom and love exists. Her intending place is a utopia in which freedon and love is realized like America in <A beggar of South Korea> or Paris in <Some Paris>. But this place dose not exist in real world so it is an object of nostalgia like a disappeared childhood hometown which is recalled beautifully in <Mansegyo>. The hometown is represented as ‘a nowhere place’(utopia) which is good but not exists and it is narrated as the possibility of ‘other place’(heterotopia) in which the persons from the same province meet and share the memory and nostalgia for the disappeared childhood hometown, north of the 38^th parallel in <A practice for going back to hometown> or <A young man wrong came>. This meeting of the persons coming south from the same province as strangers evokes temporally feeling contentment as ‘other place’(heterotopia) in which they stand aloof from the present rule or morality with their sharing memory and intention for ‘a nowhere place’(utopia), disappeared childhood hometown.
