이 글은 이태준이 동경에 체류했던 1924~1927년 약 3년여에 걸친 기간 동안 그의 활동 및 교유의 재구성을 통해 아나키즘 체험과 문학세계의 관련성이라는 문제를 규명한 것이다. 원래 편집을 맡아 『반도산업』 발간(1926.1)을 준비해 오던 권국빈의 유고 사태로 이태준은 『반도산업』의 편집 발행인이 된다. 『반도산업』은 현재 창간호만 확인할 수 있을 뿐이지만, 1923년 9월 관동 대진재 이후 경제에 기반한 조선 재건 운동의 일환으로 기획된 잡지였던 것으로 보인다. 『반도산업』은 이태준이 거주하고 있었던 우애학사와도 관련이 있다. 우애학사는 미국 선교사 베닝호프가 거주하고있던 선교사관 바로 옆에 위치하고 있으며 그 근처에 조시가야(雜司谷) 墓地가 있다. 이번에 필자가 새로 발굴한 시 「묘지에서」와 「지진」 두 편은 이 묘지와 동경에서 체험한 지진에 대한 내용으로 관동 대진재와 아나키즘을 동시에 환기시킨다. 조시가야 묘지를 배경으로 한 단편소설 「누이」의 난해함도 이 묘지와 관동 대진재, 아나키즘과의 관계를 염두에 두면 비교 적 선명하게 해석될 수 있다. 이 묘지는 단순히 소설의 배경에 그치지 않고 동경 체류 기간 이태준의 사상적 근거를 관통하는 하나의 표지가 될 수 있다. 「누이」는 관동 대진재를 언급하지 않으면서 관동 대진재 이후 일어난 학살과 그 피해자를 애도하는 소설이다.

In this paper, I examined the relation of Lee, Tae-joon's anarchism experience to his world of literature by means of reconstruction of his activities and social intercourse during his stay in Tokyo from 1924 to 1927. Lee, Tae-joon became the editor of the magazine Bando Industry due to the absence of Kwon, Kuck-bin, who had been preparing for the publication of the magazine(1926.1). Bando Industry seems to have been a magazine planned as a part of the Korean reconstruction movement based on the economy since the great Kanto Earthquake in September 1923, although only its first issue is now available. The magazine is also related to Woo-Ae Haksa(友愛學舍=friendly dormitory) where he lived. The dormitory was located right next to the missionary house where the American missionary Benninghoff lived and there was Josigaya(雜司谷) cemetery nearby. Poems “At a Cemetery” and “The Earthquake”, newly discovered by me, recall anarchism as well as the great Kanto Earthquake, describing the cemetery and the earthquake which he experienced in Tokyo. Joshigaya cemetery was the background of his short story “Nui”(=sister), which can be interpreted clearly if we take into consideration these three points: the cemetery, the great Kanto Earthquake, and anarchism. Moreover, the cemetery is not just a background of the novel, but also a sign that penetrated Lee’s ideological basis during his stay in Tokyo. “Nui” is a novel that mourns the massacre that occurred after the great Kanto Earthquake and its victims without referring to them.
