김영석의 『이춘풍전』 연구
초록
본고는 고전소설 『이춘풍전』을 해방직후 현대소설로 개작한 김영석의 『이춘풍전』의 문학사적인 의미망을 고찰하였다. 이 텍스트는 문학사에서 크게 주목을 받지 못하고 있으며 김영석 문학 연구에서도 논의되지 않고 있다.
그런데 개작소설 『이춘풍전』은 해방직후라는 시대상과 월북 이전 김영석의 문학 활동과 밀접하게 관련을 맺고 있는 텍스트다. 즉 텍스트의 개작 동기와 목적이 해방직후 문학운동과 관련이 깊다. 또한 이 텍스트는 주동인물인 ‘이춘풍’이 근대적인 성격으로 형상화되었고 텍스트 주제가 양가적으로 형상화되는 등 원작 소설의 단순한 개작이 아니라 작가의 새로운 창작물로 읽을 수가 있다.
개작소설 『이춘풍전』은 해방직후라는 사회적 상황과 조선 문학가동맹에서 활동한 작가의 의도가 반영된 소설이면서, 주동인물을 입체적으로 재창조하고 부정적인 인물들을 창조함으로써 고전소설의 도식적인 구조에서 벗어난 소설이다. 원본 텍스트가 판소리계통의 소설로서 풍자와 해학으로 주제의식을 드러냈다면 이 텍스트는 주동인물 이춘풍의 각성 과정을 통해 주제의식을 드러내고 있다. 따라서 이 텍스트는 문학 대중화를 위한 목적과 함께 소설적 형상화에도 어느 정도 성공한 소설이라고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper examines the semantic network in the history of literature of Young-Seok Kim's “Lee-Chun-Pung-Jeon,” which was adapted into a modern novel from the classic novel “Lee-Chun-Pung-Jeon” shortly after liberation. Unfortunately, this text has not received much attention in literary history and has not been discussed even in Young-Seok Kim's literature research.
However, the “Lee-Chun-Pung-Jeon” as are written novel is closely related to the background of times on independence and the literary activities of Young-Seok Kim before the defection to North Korea, that is to say, motive and purpose of the literary movement at that time. In addition, this novel text achieved new creation, not a simple adaptation of the original novel. The main character, “Lee-Chun-Pung,” is embodied in a modern personality, and the text theme developed ambivalently.
The “Lee-Chun-Pung-Jeon” reflected the social situation during the liberation era and the author's intention of working in the Korean Writer's Alliance. It has also deviated from the schematic structure of classical stories. The author recreated the round main characters and pessimistic personalities. Furthermore, while the original text expressed satire and humor as a central theme of Pansori, this adaptation text reveals it through the awakening process of the maincharacter, Lee, Chun-Pung. Therefore, this text has succeeded in the novelization and popularizing of literature.
